Kumar was co-supervised with Prof. Sriram Vishwanath and worked on signal processing, electronic dispersion compensation and MIMO for optical fibers. After graduation, he joined the Qualcomm Research to apply advanced modulation techniques to visible light communication links. He is currently an Associate Prof. at IIT-Bombay.
